Privacy Policy
Scope
This policy covers the Charaid website and the Charaid app for iPhone and iPad.
No Tracking or Server Collection
Charaid does not collect personal information, transformed text, usage data, analytics, advertising identifiers, or diagnostic data. It has no accounts, advertising, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics services. Your text is not transmitted to Charaid or any external server.
Website Data
Text transformation happens locally in your browser. Text entered on the website remains in the current browser tab and is not saved by Charaid.
The website stores these preferences in your browser's localStorage:
- Theme - Your light, dim, or dark appearance
- Character set - The selected lookalike script option
- Protected entities - Whether links, email addresses, mentions, and hashtags remain unchanged
- Swap percentage - The selected character replacement percentage
- Zero-width settings - Whether zero-width spaces are enabled and their selected percentage
These preferences remain until you clear this site's data through your browser settings.
iPhone and iPad App Data
Text transformation happens locally on your device. Text in the editor is not saved unless you turn on Record History and then tap Copy.
Record History is off by default. When you enable it, Charaid stores the source text, transformed output, transformation settings, and copy date in the app's private local storage. Charaid does not upload or share this history.
When you tap Copy, the transformed output is placed on the system clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere. Clipboard handling outside Charaid is controlled by your device and the apps with which you choose to share the text.
The app also stores local preferences such as appearance and whether Record History is enabled.
Retention and Deletion
Website preferences remain until you clear this site's browser data. App preferences remain until you change them or delete the app.
Saved app history remains on your device until you delete individual entries, use Clear All History in Settings, or delete the app. Turning Record History off stops new entries but does not delete entries already saved.
